Vibrant Health Advocates – Veritas is a community organisation in the truest sense: it runs because people in and around Forfar choose to give their time, their skills and their support to something that makes this town a better place to grow older. Whether you are a retired nurse who could help lead a health workshop, a working professional who wants to volunteer as an advocate, a local business that believes in supporting older residents, or simply someone who wants to make a regular donation that funds our exercise sessions and keeps our programmes free — there is a meaningful place for you in what we do.
We are always glad to hear from people who share our values and want to put them into action. No prior experience in health is needed for most volunteer roles — only reliability, empathy and a genuine commitment to the people of Forfar.
We train and support volunteers in advocacy, befriending, workshop facilitation and administrative roles — no prior health experience is necessary, only reliability, empathy and a commitment to the people of Forfar. Contact us to find out about our next volunteer information evening and what the role would involve in practice.
Enquire about volunteeringEvery donation we receive goes directly into keeping our programmes free and accessible for older residents in Forfar — covering hall hire, trained instructor costs, printed resources and the small but essential operational expenses that allow a charity like ours to function reliably. A regular monthly gift of any size makes it easier for us to plan ahead and serve more people.
Talk to us about donatingWe work with GP practices, community pharmacies, Angus Council services, local businesses and other third sector organisations to reach more older residents and connect them to the right support at the right time. If your organisation shares our commitment to active, healthy ageing in Angus, we would welcome a conversation about how we might work together.

Our volunteers are not a corporate workforce. They are Forfar residents — retired teachers, nurses, tradespeople and shopkeepers — who have seen what happens when older people in this town feel unsupported, and who have chosen to do something practical about it.
Many of our most effective advocates were themselves Move Well participants or Health Matters attendees before they joined the volunteer team. They bring not just their professional backgrounds but their lived understanding of what it means to be an older person in this community.
We provide full training for all volunteer roles, regular peer support sessions, and a named contact within the Veritas team who you can always reach. We ask for consistent commitment — reliability matters more to our participants than almost any other quality — but we work around real life and support you throughout.
"Every person who shows up consistently makes a difference that simply cannot be replicated by any other means."
— Veritas Volunteer Co-ordinatorWe are a small charity with minimal overheads and a clear, focused mission. Donations cover the direct, practical costs of running our programmes: hall hire for exercise sessions, instructor fees, printed health resources, and the small operational expenses that keep everything running smoothly.
A regular monthly gift — of any amount — is especially valuable because it allows us to plan confidently. Knowing we have a reliable income base means we can commit to participants, book venues and train volunteers rather than managing uncertainty week to week.
If you would like to discuss donation options, including one-off gifts, regular giving, legacy donations or corporate support, please get in touch and we will be happy to talk through the possibilities.
